The Parted Paw is a Toronto-based professional pet loss bereavement support service dedicated to helping pet owners navigate the emotional journey of losing their beloved pets.

Founded by Koryn Greenspan, a Pet Industry Professional, Certified Pet Loss Bereavement Specialist and ACC-ICF Certified Coach, The Parted Paw has born from personal experience and a deep appreciation for the unique bond between that humans and their pets have with one another.

Losing a beloved pet is one of the most profound and painful challenges a pet owner can face, he grief that follows is often as deep as that experienced after losing a human family member. Recognizing this, The Parted Paw offers specialized bereavement support services designed to help pet owners navigate every stage of pet loss – from anticipatory grief to when you say goodbye as well as after your pet has passed.

The Parted Paw provides a safe, empathetic space for clients to process their emotions, whether they are preparing for an impending loss, coping with the immediate aftermath, or seeking support in the weeks and months that follow, Services Include:

1) Before Your Pet Has Parted: At The Parted Paw, support begins before your pet has passed, often while in Anticipatory Grief. It is during this time where clients begin to process the imminent passing of their pet and The Parted Paw steps in to help and create a warm, connected, informed space where the planning of your pets passing can occur. Helping clients prepare mentally as well as emotionally when their pet is aging or facing a terminal diagnosis, offering strategies and support to process difficult emotions and answering essential questions, before loss occurs.

2) When Your Pet Has Parted: Following a pets passing, clients receive compassionate guidance through the initial shock and sadness, with sessions designed to nurture, witness, and console feelings of deep sadness, profound guilt and bewilderment – all of which are naturally present with the passing of your pet, by creating a compassionate environment where grief is validated and understood, processed and elevated.

3) After Your Pet Has Parted: Life after pet loss can be many things, one of the things it often is, is lonely. Offering support to clients as they adjust to life without their pet is essential. The Parted Paw helps with life after pet loss adjustment by offering resources for memorialization, grief recovery sessions, discusses if time off work is required, and further unpacks feelings of prolonged sadness and guilt.
